Ahead of Russian Customs Officer Day, officials of the Crimea excise customs post visited a memorial sign honouring soldiers of the 51st Army, which was part of the active army from 1941 to 1945 and took part in liberating Crimea from German–Fascist occupiers. Source: Central Excise Customs (CAT).
The 51st Army was formed in Simferopol from Crimean residents. Four divisions were raised from people's militia battalions. The site where the memorial now stands was a staging point from which Crimean units left for the front.
The officers laid flowers at the memorial and paid tribute to the fallen heroes who, at the cost of their lives and with exceptional courage, fought the occupiers for their homeland, held their ground and won.
