Domodedovo customs find undeclared jewellery worth over RUB 5 million

According to an FCS Russia press release, Domodedovo customs officers found undeclared jewellery worth more than RUB 5 million on a passenger arriving from Bahrain via Dubai.

He was stopped in the green channel; baggage inspection revealed cases branded AL ROMAIZAN Gold And Jewellery containing earrings, chains and a pendant shaped as a woman’s head from a well-known luxury brand.

The man said acquaintances in Ghana had asked him to carry the items and that he was unaware of declaration requirements.

Examination confirmed 750, 875 and 999 gold alloys. A criminal case was opened under Article 226.1(1) of the Criminal Code, punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment or a fine of up to RUB 1 million.
