Domodedovo customs find Van Cleef jewellery worth over RUB 11.7 million

According to an FCS Russia press release, Domodedovo customs officers found undeclared Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery worth more than RUB 11.7 million on a passenger arriving from Dubai.

She was stopped in the green channel; hand luggage inspection revealed an invoice, and at the officer’s request she produced a bracelet, a ring and a diamond necklace linked to a second four-leaf clover bracelet.

The traveller said relatives in Dubai had given her the pieces and that she did not know they had to be declared.

Examination confirmed genuine items in 750 gold alloy. A criminal case was opened under Article 194(1) of the Criminal Code (large-scale evasion of customs duties), carrying up to two years’ imprisonment or a fine of up to RUB 500,000.
