First forum of the Russian Customs Academy opens in Moscow

According to a press release by FCS Russia, the first forum for students of the Russian Customs Academy and its branches opened in Moscow at the Russia national centre.

The event highlights the academy’s role in training specialists for customs authorities. The first day’s agenda covered customs education, research and youth career guidance.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Olga Petrova spoke at the opening, and FCS Russia head Valery Pikalyov addressed participants by video. He described today’s customs service as a high-tech structure combining economic, legal, IT and law-enforcement functions, and said service in customs offers a chance to contribute to national security and prosperity.

Outstanding students received awards from FCS Russia Deputy Head Olga Smolyaga. The main session was titled “Russian Customs Academy — a launchpad for a successful career”, alongside panel discussions on customs education and career choices.

The academy and Bauman Moscow State Technical University signed a cooperation agreement in education and research. On 11–12 February the forum continues on the academy campus, where school pupils and parents can meet lecturers, students and customs officers.
