Officers screened a 51-year-old Russian national on the green channel after his arrival from India via the UAE. Two backpacks contained capsules, cardboard strips, foil with crystals, stamps and a tablet-shaped item.
Laboratory tests found pregabalin (28.71 g) in the capsules, DMT (4.15 g) in the crystals, and d-lysergide (LSD) weighing 0.29 g in the cardboard and tablet.
The passenger said he could not recall how the substances entered his baggage and was only partly aware of customs rules.
A criminal case was opened under subparagraph “b”, Part 4 of Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code. The penalty is 15–20 years’ imprisonment with a fine of up to RUB 1 million or life imprisonment.
