The Main Anti-Smuggling Directorate and Sochi customs detained a woman on the green channel after her arrival from Istanbul. Inspection revealed undeclared Rolex watch, Cartier ring and earrings worn on her person.
Experts confirmed the items are genuine 750-gold jewellery; the ring and earrings are set with diamonds. The goods were seized.
A criminal case was opened under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code (illicit movement of strategically important goods). The penalty is up to five years’ imprisonment or a fine of up to RUB 1 million.
