Vnukovo airport customs officers found antlers and skulls of red deer — derivatives of Cervus elaphus — in the baggage of a foreign national flying to Germany via Istanbul. Source: FCS Russia.

The traveller used the green channel. During inspection, officers noticed unusual items wrapped in black film resembling parts of wild animals — twelve antlers and deer skulls in total.

The man said he had bought the derivatives from an acquaintance in Russia to make souvenirs and was unaware of declaration requirements.

Expert examination identified parts of a cervid, maral subspecies, with a combined weight of nearly 30 kg. The goods were seized and two administrative cases were opened under Articles 16.2 and 16.3 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences, with penalties including fines and confiscation.
