As part of commemorative events, customs officers visited a Great Patriotic War veteran decorated with the medals “For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War” and “For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945”. They joined the patriotic “Clean Monument” campaign, tidied memorial grounds and laid flowers at monuments and military burial sites in tribute to those who defended the country’s freedom and independence.

CAT head Alexander Shvedov noted that memory of the victors’ generation is the foundation of historical responsibility, and that respect for Great Patriotic War heroes should be shown not only on commemorative dates but in everyday actions, attitude to history and service to the Fatherland.
