In the Pskov region, customs officers uncovered a large stash of illegal tobacco and alcohol at a warehouse, seizing 224,000 cigarette packs and 500 boxes of spirits worth about 37 million roubles in total.
The cigarettes were made in Belarus and are valued at 34 million roubles. The packs lacked excise stamps and labelling required for lawful sale in Russia.
Seized alcohol included vodka, cognac, whisky and tequila without excise marks and showing signs of counterfeiting, worth more than three million roubles. Officers also found 5-litre plastic containers of clear liquid smelling of alcohol.
The spirits were handed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Pskov region for procedural decisions.
