Sheremetyevo customs found 1.2 kg of silver scrap in the backpack of a 53-year-old foreign woman flying to China.
On the “green” channel, X-ray screening and search revealed four polyethylene bags with silver granules.
She was carrying the metal for third parties and said she did not know customs rules; tests confirmed 999-grade refined silver valued at RUB 330,000.
Cases were opened under Articles 16.2 and 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences; a fine of RUB 165,000 was imposed.
