On the sidelines of the 5th Eurasian Economic Forum in Astana on 28 May, Bakytzhan Sagintaev held a working meeting with Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc and said EAEU trade with the country reached USD 8.3 billion in 2025. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The parties reviewed results and prospects of cooperation under the free trade agreement signed on 29 May 2015 and in force since 5 October 2016.
An analytical report marking ten years of the agreement is being prepared to summarise achievements and outline next steps. The EEC Board Chairman said partnership with Vietnam now goes beyond trade to cover technology, digital transformation, logistics and investment.
Following the talks, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue systematic work to strengthen bilateral ties on the basis of the current trade regime.
