In Astana on 29 May, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council reviewed the Eurasian Economic Commission's report on implementation of the EAEU's main international activities in 2025. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The Commission described the past year as a notable stage in advancing the Union's external economic agenda. Cooperation with observer states strengthened: the free trade agreement with Iran entered into force and the first meeting of the Joint Committee on its implementation was held, while work with Uzbekistan and Cuba continued.
Preferential trade arrangements were reached with third countries — a temporary agreement with Mongolia, an economic partnership agreement with the UAE, and a free trade agreement with Indonesia.
Dialogue with regional groupings expanded: a cooperation plan with the CIS Executive Committee on transport, infrastructure and logistics through 2030 was signed, and a plan to support trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and Africa for 2025–2027 was approved. Plans with the SCO and CSTO, as well as a memorandum with the East African Community on competition, are nearing completion.
The EAEU took part in global initiatives, presenting integration experience at the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the twelfth ESCAP Asia-Pacific Forum. "EAEU Days" at the UN Office in Geneva were a highlight. Council members took note of the report.
