At the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting in Astana on 29 May, documents were adopted extending the budget support mechanism for cooperation projects to the agro-industrial sector. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
A Protocol amending the EAEU Treaty was signed and a decision was taken on the funding source and application period. Support will be provided as budget subsidisation of interest rates on loans raised to implement joint projects by member states.
The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will set the main eligibility criteria, requirements for borrowers and financial institutions, taking account of agro-industrial production specifics.
A similar mechanism for industrial cooperation projects has been in place since 2024. The new documents will enter into force after member states ratify the Protocol.
