On the sidelines of the 29th St Petersburg International Economic Forum, EEC Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics Daniyar Imanaliev and Myanmar Minister of National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Aung Cho Htoo discussed key areas of cooperation between the Commission and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. They focused in particular on preparations for the next meeting of the joint working group between the EEC and the Government of Myanmar. Imanaliev highlighted Myanmar's strategic location at the junction of South, Southeast and East Asia and its role as a land bridge linking major regional economies.
Both sides noted steady trade and economic momentum and strong potential to broaden sectoral cooperation. Talks covered exchange of experience in customs regulation, food security, industry, energy, transport and infrastructure, as well as cooperation in innovative sectors and the use of artificial intelligence.
The EEC minister praised the format of joint sectoral seminars and plans to expand it. They also looked at business forums, trade missions and exhibitions to improve entrepreneurs' awareness of business conditions in EAEU countries and Myanmar.
