Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and EEC Council member Alexey Overchuk led the Russian side. The talks took place ahead of entry into force of the interim trade agreement between the EAEU, its member states and Mongolia.
Participants exchanged views on prospects for trade and economic cooperation and agreed on priority steps to take relations to a new level. Agriculture, veterinary measures, technical regulation, customs cooperation and e-commerce were among the focus areas.
Andrey Slepnev stressed that implementation of the agreement must be effective from day one, and that work is under way both within the Union and together with Mongolian partners.
The interim trade agreement of 27 June 2025 enters into force on 22 July 2026. Customs duties will be eliminated or reduced for 367 tariff subheadings for each party. The agreement runs for three years and may be automatically extended for a further three-year term.
