At the Russia–UAE business dialogue during SPIEF, EEC Minister for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation Maxim Ermolovich said the economic partnership agreement between the EAEU and the United Arab Emirates sets a long-term basis for bilateral relations. In current conditions, he argued, multilateral formats for international trade work poorly, so the Union needs its own cooperation architecture without undermining existing trade agreements.
Maxim Ermolovich noted that EAEU countries’ foreign trade totals about USD 800 billion, and broader trade agreements with partners — with a wider set of mutual commitments — create a foundation for further engagement.
EAEU trade with the UAE reached about USD 14 billion in 2024 and added another USD 2 billion in 2025. The trade agreement signed last year should accelerate growth; it includes extensive new provisions that widen room for deals.
The UAE side was represented by Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Ambassador to Russia Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber and business delegates.
