EEC and IATA discuss cooperation

Amid geopolitical uncertainty, new challenges facing aviation were the focus of a 10 June seminar between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

Minister for Energy and Infrastructure Arzybek Kozhoshev chaired the event at Commission headquarters; he also met IATA Regional Director for Russia and the CIS Dmitry Shamraev separately. Talks covered flight safety, aviation security and the role of digital technology in air carriage.

Kozhoshev and Shamraev aligned next steps under the 2016 cooperation memorandum, including joint analytical studies of international air transport.

The minister reported on a draft roadmap to implement the main directions of coordinated EAEU transport policy for 2027–2029 and suggested using IATA’s digitalisation experience as a guide for the five member states.

Both sides confirmed readiness to expand the partnership. Founded in 1945, IATA brings together more than 370 airlines — about 85% of global air traffic — and develops industry standards that complement mandatory ICAO rules.
