An extra temporary customs control area was opened beside the main zone so heavy trucks do not queue — total capacity now reaches 400 lorries.

The Yarag-Kazmalyar and Tagirkent-Kazmalyar checkpoints handle between 1,000 and 1,400 trucks a day on average. Officers give priority to food and perishables, especially fresh fruit and vegetables from Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia.

Since January 2026, North Caucasus customs has released more than 2.7 million tonnes of cargo, a 14.5% increase over the same period last year.

Hauliers are advised that accurate advance data on goods and vehicles helps speed up border processing.
