EAEU updates origin rules for public procurement access

The Eurasian Economic Commission Board has approved amendments to the Rules for determining the country of origin of certain goods to secure access to public procurement in EAEU member states. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

The changes would add 93 new items in special machine engineering to the Eurasian Register of Industrial Goods. For another 24 products, production conditions for EAEU origin recognition would be refined through a points-based assessment of requirements.

The amendments will take effect after a decision by the EEC Council; the relevant materials are already on the agenda of the Council’s next meeting.

The register supports access to government procurement in member states that apply preferences, restrictions or bans on goods from other Union countries and/or third countries. Producers must follow a set procedure to have their goods listed.
