On the second day of his tour across the Siberian customs district, FCS head Valery Pikalyov joined Deputy Minister of Transport Valentin Ivanov, FCS deputy head Agepsim Ashkalov, and Alexander Sirchuk, director of the Novosibirsk office of Rosgranstroy, to review six checkpoints on the Russian–Kazakhstan border. The itinerary covered Pavlovka (Slavgorod) in Altai Krai, Pavlovka (Karasuk) in Novosibirsk Oblast, and Olkhovka, Nevolnoye, Odeskoye, and Isilkul in Omsk Oblast.
The delegation assessed equipment at the crossings and discussed upgrade options. The aim is to align every checkpoint used for goods movements under the SPOT regime with a single standard layout so that control is seamless and customs procedures remain largely invisible to carriers.
Pikalyov spoke with staff and tested how well mobile teams know SPOT “other functions” procedures; in practice, checks take no more than one minute and do not hold up traffic at the border.
He then visited Omsk customs and chaired a videoconference with deputy heads and directors of FCS central units on digitalisation and higher efficiency in customs administration.
Closing the trip, Pikalyov thanked Siberian customs staff for their professionalism and singled out the heads of Altai, Novosibirsk, and Omsk customs and the Siberian regional office for organising SPOT control functions.
