On 26 June, at the 10th International Nevsky Forum in the St Petersburg Legislative Assembly, EEC Minister for Customs Cooperation Sergey Shklyaev discussed integration and the prospects of the EAEU’s unified customs transit system. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
Shklyaev described integration as a tool for stability in a multipolar world and cited the EAEU as proof that five countries with different economies and cultures can build common customs and trade rules. Customs, he said, links the state and the economy, while procedure efficiency depends on business involvement in regulation and on digital technology.
He focused on the EAEU unified customs transit system, built on leading international practice. It will rely on advanced digital tools, including a single electronic transit declaration. Electronic navigation seals will be a key element: they are expected to secure and trace cargo along the entire route and to streamline control within the risk-management system.
Shklyaev also outlined a course towards technological sovereignty: the Union plans to move towards navigation seals produced in EAEU countries, supporting domestic manufacturing and software development and strengthening trust among oversight bodies.
