On 29 June 2026, the upgraded Pogranichny road checkpoint — the largest automobile crossing in Primorsky Krai within Ussuriysk customs’ area — went into operation. Source: FCS Russia.
The opening ceremony combined on-site attendance with video links. Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin, FCS Deputy Head Agapsim Ashkalov, and Igor Shmotkin, Deputy Head of the FSB Border Service and Director of the Border Control Department, joined remotely. Consul General of China in Vladivostok Wu Demin, Rosgranstroy head Gennady Bezlobenko, Primorsky Krai Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, and representatives of the regional FSB border directorate, the Far Eastern Customs Administration, and Ussuriysk customs attended in person.
Built with up-to-date engineering solutions, the facility is expected to triple throughput: customs officers will be able to process up to 500 trucks and 200 intercity coaches per day, shortening waiting times at the Russia–China border.
Cargo traffic on ten lanes started at 17:00 local time (10:00 Moscow time). A four-lane passenger corridor for tourist coaches opens on 30 June.
Since the start of 2026, more than 65,000 international haulage vehicles have passed through Pogranichny — up 14.7% year on year — and customs have cleared over 796,000 tonnes of goods (+4.5%).
