On 3 July in Astana, the CIS Intergovernmental Council on Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) backed the Eurasian Economic Commission’s initiative to seek an opinion from the CIS Economic Court. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The Council approved referring a request for official interpretation of provisions of the 2002 Convention on Legal Assistance in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters and the 1992 Agreement on Settlement of Disputes Related to Economic Activities. The issue concerns compensation for damage caused by breaches of common competition rules on cross-border markets.
EEC Minister for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation Maxim Yermolovich said the step responds to questions that arose while preparing an information letter on the possibility of such compensation. The work follows Council of the EEC Order No. 18 of 26 September 2025.
