For Belarus, whose external trade turnover reached about USD 90 billion in 2025, unified Eurasian rules have direct economic weight, the minister said.
Common requirements cover most products circulating in the Union — from food, children’s goods and light industry to machinery, electrical equipment, vehicles, oil and gas. Product safety and related processes, he stressed, are the purpose and essence of technical regulation.
Sanitary, veterinary and quarantine phytosanitary measures, he noted, always sit between necessary protection and trade restriction: when disease outbreaks, quarantine pests or unsafe goods appear, the state must respond.
Subbotin also suggested tapping the expertise of Belarusian missions abroad to spot regulatory changes on external markets early in the fields of technical regulation and SPS measures.
