The EEC Council has exempted imports of sugar-beet toppers and harvesters for Belarus and Russia from customs duty. The relief covers machinery classified under EAEU FEACN code 8433 53 300 0, up to 15 units for Belarus and 155 for Russia. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The measure is intended to help EAEU agricultural producers replace worn-out equipment. Operating costs for machines manufactured five to ten years ago are 1.5 to 2 times higher than for new machinery.
The EEC expects modern equipment to reduce the cost of harvesting sugar beet and producing finished goods. The decision takes effect 10 calendar days after its official publication.
