On 11 August the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved a plan to improve EAEU law on electronic passport systems for vehicles (chassis), self-propelled machines and other equipment. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The plan follows monitoring of data exchange between the system administrator and national electronic passport operators, and takes into account proposals from the authorized bodies of the Union’s Member States.
According to EEC Minister for Technical Regulation Alexander Subbotin, the measures cover upgrading registers and electronic conformity assessment documents, aligning electronic passport data with those documents, and settling the transfer of customs information. The plan is a framework: for now it lists Union acts that need amendment; the detailed wording will be drafted together with national authorities.
The work is scheduled through the second quarter of 2027. That timeline is intended to remove difficulties in exchanging electronic passport data identified during the monitoring.
