On 12 August at EEC headquarters, EEC Minister for Technical Regulation Alexander Subbotin and the head of Russia’s Federal Accreditation Service, Dmitry Volvach, discussed how to make cooperation among EAEU countries on technical regulation and conformity assessment more effective. The talks focused on improving Union law so that authorities can respond more quickly to violations by conformity assessment bodies listed in the EAEU Single Register.
The parties reviewed how to adjust cooperation among authorized bodies of the Member States: a clear procedure for sharing information on detected violations, mandatory review of incoming materials by competent authorities, and the application of response measures provided for in Union law.
They also stressed the need for solutions that ensure prompt remediation, transparency between Member States and uniform application of Union requirements across the EAEU.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue jointly developing proposals to update the Union’s regulatory framework with interested national authorities and the Commission.
