On 14 August in Minsk, EEC Minister for Technical Regulation Alexander Subbotin held a working meeting with representatives of the Republican Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Belarusian business community. The agenda covered how EAEU technical-regulation rules work in practice and business proposals to refine them. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
Participants focused on weak mutual acceptance of conformity-assessment documents issued in other EAEU states, which complicates internal trade. They also reviewed possible amendments to existing technical regulations so problems spotted in day-to-day application can be fixed more quickly.
Talks also covered a draft EAEU technical regulation on nicotine-containing products, rules for feed additives and chemicals, and issues arising under the regulations “On the safety of wheeled vehicles” and “Safety requirements for food additives, flavourings and processing aids”.
The sides agreed to keep consulting and exchanging proposals that the Commission may take into account when further developing EAEU technical-regulation law.
