At Domodedovo Airport, inspectors found undeclared designer goods worth RUB 9.3 million in the baggage of a 22-year-old Russian woman arriving from Sharjah (UAE). Source: FCS Russia.

She was stopped on the green channel during selective control. The suitcase contained a Cartier ring, a necklace, bags and wallets, Chanel footwear, a Louis Vuitton bag, and accessories by Hermes, Phoebe Philo and Loewe — 38 items in total.

The passenger said a friend had asked her to pass the items on to the friend’s brother. She was familiar with the customs rules but chose not to declare the expensive goods.

Expert examination confirmed that all of the products were genuine; the jewellery was made of precious-metal alloys and 750 gold with inserts of pearl and jewellery glass.

An administrative case was opened under Article 16.2(1) of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences for non-declaration. The offender paid a fine of RUB 2.3 million and arranged reverse export of the goods outside the EAEU customs territory.
