On 28 August in Yerevan, EEC Minister for Technical Regulation Aleksandr Subbotin held a working meeting with Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. The sides reviewed how to shape common requirements for alcoholic goods while reflecting national rules of the member states and keeping clear conditions for producers placing products on the Union’s common market.
They also weighed the practical impact on businesses: common regulation should support domestic production and mutual trade in alcohol rather than create undue barriers.
Mr Subbotin stressed a balanced approach that combines product safety, national industry specifics and free movement of goods across the Union.
Discussions further covered removing obstacles to mutual trade, improving conformity-assessment procedures and closer cooperation between the Commission and Armenia’s competent authorities.
The same day the minister visited Armenia’s Institute of Standardisation and Metrology, reviewing its calibration and research facilities and laboratories, and discussing metrological support, product testing and standards needed to implement EAEU technical regulations.
