The trophy was found during selective checks after the couple had used the green channel: the suitcase held an animal head prepared for wall mounting.
The passenger said it was a souvenir for friends and admitted he had not filed a passenger customs declaration. He produced neither a veterinary certificate nor a Rosselkhoznadzor permit required to take such goods across the border.
Cases were opened under Article 16.2(1) of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences (non-declaration) and Article 16.3 (breach of export prohibitions or restrictions).
Goods listed in Customs Union Commission Decision No. 317 of 18 June 2010 on veterinary and sanitary measures in the Eurasian Economic Union are subject to veterinary control (supervision).
