EEC Council clarifies toy labelling requirements

The EEC Council has amended the EAEU technical regulation “On the safety of toys”, clarifying labelling rules. The changes take effect 180 calendar days after official publication. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

Clause 5.3 of Article 4 now requires that information applied by the manufacturer, its authorised representative, the importer and/or the seller must not contradict each other, alter the toy’s intended use, age addressing, warnings or safe-use restrictions, or mislead the buyer about purpose and safety.

The amendments aim to stop evasion of the technical regulation, reduce consumer deception and prevent non-compliant products from being placed on the market.
