Investigators say a foreign national organised purchases in Turkey of medicines, clothing, footwear, baby food and other goods for resale in Russia and supplied driver-accomplices with forged documents for the cargo and vehicles.
Officers tracked a truck’s route and detained group members during unloading.
Criminal cases were opened under Article 194(4) of the Criminal Code for evasion of customs payments by an organised group. The penalty ranges from seven to twelve years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to RUB 1 million.
The operation was carried out with the North Caucasus Operational Customs and the FSB Directorate for the Republic of North Ossetia.
