EEC Minister for Trade Andrey Slepnev met Irkutsk Region businesses in Irkutsk and outlined the benefits of the Temporary Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Mongolia, which recently entered into force. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The visit followed an invitation from Governor Igor Kobzev ahead of a Joint Committee session on implementing the agreement. The region trades actively with neighbouring Mongolia, and other members of the EEC delegation joined the discussion.
Businesses were told the deal simplifies procedures, cuts administrative costs and makes regulation more transparent. Better access for Union goods to the Mongolian market was also highlighted, including through zero or lower customs duties.
“The agreement opens vast opportunities to unlock trade potential,” Slepnev stressed, recalling that tariff and non-tariff barriers had previously constrained exchanges.
Entrepreneurs, for their part, pointed to remaining obstacles for EAEU products on the Mongolian market, including chicken eggs.
