The men were stopped in the green channel during selective screening. One carried 62 knives in a backpack; the other had 59 sheathed knives without markings in two textile bags, with patterns on the blades and handles.
They said the blades were intended as gifts for friends.
Examination found the items made like traditional Uzbek (Tajik) “Pchak” knives in craft workshops using industrial equipment. Most were household, kitchen or butcher knives, but 15 were classified as cold weapons.
Two administrative cases were opened under Article 16.2(1) of the Code of Administrative Offences (failure to declare). The sanction allows a fine of up to twice the goods’ value and possible confiscation.
Import and export of cold weapons in Russia require Rosgvardia permits; such items must be declared in writing and presented for customs inspection.
