During control the man did not declare cash subject to declaration. Technical inspection found a purpose-built cache in one of the vehicle’s shelves; the currency inside was worth more than RUB 35 million at the equivalent rate.

The seized banknotes have been sent for forensic examination; a procedural decision will follow the results.

Presidential Decree No. 81 of 1 March 2022 bans exporting foreign cash from Russia above the equivalent of USD 10,000.

Presidential Decree No. 706 of 29 September 2026 also restricts taking Russian cash to EAEU states, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan: over RUB 1 million for individuals, and any amount for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs.
