Alexander Subbotin on standards and product safety in the EAEU

He described standardisation as a pillar of EAEU integration: common product safety requirements are implemented on the market through harmonised standards.

Subbotin argued for forward-looking standardisation — lists linked to technical regulations should anticipate technologies rather than follow them, bridging research and mass production; digital tools under development in the Union should support that work.

He also urged broader use of standards in industrial cooperation so that components from different member states align technically and legally at the design stage of complex products such as electric vehicles or drones, strengthening competitiveness abroad.

The event brought together senior officials from member states and intergovernmental bodies. During the working visit Subbotin discussed with Belarusian agencies ways to speed up EAEU electronic vehicle passports, a task assigned by the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
