The Commission held preparatory consultations with Chinese partners and Union customs administrations. Experts narrowed differences on the draft protocol on exchange procedures, agreed on the data set to be shared and on core technical conditions.

The protocol implements the 6 June 2019 agreement on information exchange on goods and means of transport crossing EAEU and Chinese borders. The arrangement is meant to speed up customs processing, improve risk management and curb imports of dangerous or prohibited goods that bypass control.

Participants agreed to keep working on the text and on steps toward signature so that operational data exchange can follow the existing legal framework.
