On the sidelines of the third Russia–Africa summit, a session on EAEU–Africa integration partnership was held; EEC Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics Daniyar Imanaliev took part. He outlined four pillars: institutional ties between integration blocs, sharing regulatory and integration practices, deeper sectoral cooperation and support for business associations’ contacts. Imanaliev stressed that the dialogue should deliver practical benefits for companies—lower regulatory risk and room for joint investment. Priority sectors include energy, food security, transport and logistics, digital technology and high-tech industries.
Particular attention was given to building an institutional framework for EEC engagement with African regional bodies, including alignment on draft cooperation memorandums.
Leaders of African integration structures set out their priorities and possible formats for working with the EAEU.
To improve mutual awareness, the Commission proposed holding “EAEU Days” at partner organisations’ headquarters and reciprocal events at the EEC.
Representatives of five blocs—the EAEU, COMESA, ECOWAS, ECCAS and SADC—took part, enabling an exchange of experience and discussion of cross-regional “integration of integrations”.
