On 30 October EEC Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics Daniyar Imanaliev hosted COMESA Secretary General Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe at the Commission’s headquarters to compare integration experience and outline practical cooperation. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
Kapwepwe described COMESA’s institutional setup, including its competition authority, trade development bank, business council, RAERESA energy regulators’ association and women-in-business federation.
The meeting highlighted productive work between the EEC and COMESA’s competition and consumer protection commission, backed by a 2022 memorandum of understanding on competition policy.
Imanaliev presented the EAEU’s current development agenda, noting shared COMESA priorities—market integration, industrial growth and trade expansion—and interest in direct engagement between the two blocs’ institutions. COMESA representatives were invited to the Eurasian Economic Forum in Bishkek in May 2027.
