From 26 to 30 October Geneva hosted the WTO “rules week”—meetings of bodies on anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard measures plus a seminar for heads of authorities that run anti-dumping probes. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
At the Safeguards Committee session, Andrey Zakharov, Director of the EEC Internal Market Protection Department, responded to WTO members’ comments on safeguard investigations conducted in the EAEU.
He also joined seminar debates on using artificial intelligence in investigations, safeguarding confidential data amid digitalisation, staffing, ways to speed up and streamline cases, and balancing public interests in final decisions.
Zakharov held bilateral talks with EAEU WTO members and with staff of the WTO Secretariat’s rules division. The EEC said such engagement helps maintain dialogue, strengthens the Union’s profile in Geneva and improves awareness of how EAEU trade defence tools work.
