EAEU–Jordan joint study group approved to explore a free trade deal

On 3 November the EEC Council ordered a joint study group to assess whether the EAEU should pursue a free trade agreement with Jordan. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

EAEU member states will nominate experts to the team alongside EEC representatives.

EEC Minister for Trade Andrei Slepnev said bilateral trade is dominated by food and farm goods, metals, timber, textiles and chemicals, and lower tariffs could significantly expand flows in both directions.

He expects businesses to start building contacts and adjusting supply routes while the study is under way, delivering practical gains before talks conclude.
