On 3 November the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council adopted Union-wide rules requiring identification marking for selected electrical goods, lighting equipment and printed circuit boards. Source: Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The package was initiated by Russia. The product list covers rectifiers and converters, vehicle and portable lighting, lamps, LEDs and luminaires, printed boards, and relays, sockets, connectors, switchgear and distribution panels rated up to 1,000 V.
As with other marked categories, each EAEU member sets national rollout dates and procedures but must notify the Commission at least six months before marking starts.
Items will carry a cryptographically protected Data Matrix code under harmonised identification requirements. EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev said wider marking should make supply chains more transparent, curb illegal goods and strengthen consumer safety in the electrical segment.
